Transfers and Delai funeral

Sister Ma’ake and Sister Nubuk transferred to Suva Area

Transfers were a little crazy. The plane was an hour late arriving so the missionaries had a lot of time at the airport.

The Delia family and new sisters sitting on a porch in the village. We were waiting for them to bring the body. Apparently the paperwork was not ordered so they had to get a form from the police station before they could take the body from the morgue/hospital.

Mats for her burial

Service at the Methodist church. Funny thing… Elder Keck was the concluding speaker. As he was speaking it started to rain hard and the wind blew the shutters in the chapel open and shut. The banging of the shutters was a little loud! It was still raining when the service ended. They carried the casket up the hill in the rain.

From this door we went to the left and up the hill and then back to the right up to the top. It was a little scary. Slick from the rain and steep.

This is the view from the burial site. I carried Elder Keck’s crutch up the hill. Not sure why he didn’t take it.

Elder Keck,President Jim and Mereani

This photo of President Jim is how I will remember him.He likes to laugh!

Lowering the casket into the ground. There is someone down there setting it in place.

As they fill the hole family and friends throw in a handful of dirt.

Adding rocks around it.

The arrangements in the plastic are made of plastic. They are pretty and very durable. They also had a few arrangements of live flowers.

Above photos are all at the luncheon in the village hall.
The food was the best I have had at the funerals we have been to.
Sister Gounder and Sister Vilo washed all the dishes. And there were lots!! They are going to be fantastic companions here in Savusavu.

A stop at the Urata lookout for photos!
